Bands on the return trail

No Doubt:
Just when it looked like it would never happen, the members of No Doubt have told Rolling Stone that they will start recording a new album next month - the group’s first in six years. Gwen Stefani put the project on hold last year in order to promote her latest solo album - among other reasons. “I just didn’t creatively know what kind of record I would do with No Doubt next, like at the time when I started this project and before the baby and all that, I just couldn’t picture it. And now, I’m like, ‘Hmm… I think I may have an idea in my head.’” Apparently the rest of the band - Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young - have some ideas, too. They’re gonna start laying down tracks next month, until Stefani returns from her current solo tour - probably in October. As for the new music, Young says it’s “unlike anything else we’ve ever made.” “Stylistically," he adds, it’s “all over the place.”

Silverchair:
Australian rock act Silverchair, best known here in the States for their 1995 debut album Frogstomp are back and have a huge hit at home with their latest album Young Modern. The new album has already gone double platinum Down Under and now the guys have just announced their first U-S tour in almost a decade. They’ll begin the trek on July 13th in San Diego and wrap things up on Sunday, August 5th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Blur:
Fans of Blur will be happy to hear that the original line-up plan on entering the studio sometime soon, but we may or may not hear anything from those sessions. Gigwise.com reports that drummer Dave Rowntree says that the band are going to see how things go in the studio before committing to an album. Blur say they are testing things out to see if the spark is still there. Blur’s last album, Think Tank, was released in 2003.
