Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico

Time flies, it seems like we returned from vacation last week, but it's really been WEEKS. I'm kinda tired of taking in these wonderful experiences and forgetting to relate some of the tales with my readers. So I will probably discuss the trip in a couple brief posts, and maybe some pics here and there.

I'll start here. Last year my wife sent me this link:

There was an amazing deal on a rental unit near several beaches in the South West corner of Puerto Rico. So after weighing it briefly, we jumped at the opportunity. We made our reservations in December of 2006 for Memorial Day weekend, May 2007. Attending were my wife, her brother and me for 10 days of fun in the sun in the Caribbean.
Since we were staying in Cabo Rojo, the closest airport for us to use was Aguadilla Airport. Not a lot of airlines use it. Luckily Jetblue does. Unfortunately the flight departs from NY JFK at about midnight and lands between 3 and 4 in the morning. We picked up our Hyundai Brio (aka Accent in the US) and hit the road. It's not a very long distance, but being exhausted and driving in the dark in a land that you don't remember so very well, it's easy to become confused, especially when not all roads are labelled very well. We arrived at the house at daybreak. But along the way we had to drive along winding mountain roads. Along the way we met up with all manner of animals, including CRABS! Yes! Crabs were out on the roads and you could see them as victims of other passing cars.
So when you head down there, keep a careful watch for road markers and animals. The land is loaded with amazing life!
