Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009)

FINALLY!

Some news about the third Underworld movie has finally been posted. Previously referred to as Underworld 3 (or Underworld III or Untitled Underworld Prequel), now with a full title we have a better idea what this will be about. Long rumored to be about the beginning of the war between clans of Lycanthropes and Vampires, a prequel, it appears to be true. The cast is shaping up and notes are available. Here's the anonymously posted storyline:

The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

The names Selene and Michael are notably missing in the cast. While these are still early stages, obviously Scott Speedman cannot be in a prequel, but many were expecting Kate Beckinsale to return for this, supposedly, final chapter in the Underworld storyline. A lot of people are hoping for more of Amelia, played by Zita Gorog, a Hungarian model, pictured to the side from a P10 shoot.

We'll see what turns out, but I am excited about this update. It was posted on October 25th, so it's still pretty fresh.
