Turtle Thursday: Houdini

Recently when I got home one night my wife asked me to look at an image on her dig cam. When I looked up quizzically, she only responded, "Turtle Thursday" and handed me the camera. When I looked at the view screen, I saw a pic of Roxy (an RES) caught attempting to escape his tank. Literally, he was caught there! He wedged himself between two pieces of Lucite I propped up as a deterrent. Well, it didn't work. He went on trying until he eventually DID escape from his tank on another day... only to fall into Silent Bob's tank, which IS impossible to escape from.

Turtles might not look agile and motivated, but if there is a way to escape from their holding pen, they WILL find it! Once they think they have found an escape route, they will keep at it until either you seal up that passage, or they finally escape, never to be seen again.

So be warned, you might think this hockey puck-like creature might not be very motivated and lazy, but he's truly an escape artist in disguise!
