In 2005 I decided that my four wheel drive Subaru wagon was a glutton for gasoline and it was time for something that didn't need weekly repairs and would be better on gas. At around 20-22 miles per gallon, the four cylinder Subaru wasn't as efficient as I would've liked. That was when I decided on the Ford Focus. This car claimed 27 / 35 mpg in a year that gas prices were starting to climb. While everyone in my neighborhood was getting bigger trucks I went small.
Less than three years later gas is over $4 / gallon. The car manufacturers have announced that they are retooling for the busted SUV market and the booming small car market. Once again cars will rule the road again and stupid commuting monster trucks will become dinosaurs. Finally, people are doing the right thing, too bad it took an energy crunch to wake people up.
