Trivia
When it comes to song lyrics, what's a mondegreen?
  • A mistaken version of a lyric—as in “’Scuse me while I kiss the sky” (from Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze), which is sometimes misinterpreted as “’Scuse me while I kiss this guy.” The term mondegreen is derived from a misunderstood line in the ballad The Bonnie Earl of Murray, in which the words “laid him on the green” were misinterpreted as “Lady Mondegreen.”
