Thought of the day

McCain doesn't get it. ~ Obama

I think Obama doesn't get it. He keeps spouting off about the failed policies of the current administration. Even with the recession, which by the way isn't even a recession, the economy is in better shape than it was during the Clinton years, lowest crime in 50 years, lowest unemployment in 40 years. Iraq is becoming more and more orderly by the day, even though we never should've been there in the first place, we're doing a fine job of cleaning up that mess.

So what doesn't he get? He has multiple house? He thinks $5 million is rich? Doesn't Ted Kennedy have several houses? Aren't most senators rich? What does that mean in the grand scheme of things? Don't give me that bullshit that the republicans tax the poor and give breaks to the rich. Here's the truth on that:

Schedule X — Single
If taxable income is over--But not over--The tax is:
$0 -- $7,825 -- 10% of the amount over $0
$7,825 -- $31,850 -- $782.50 plus 15% of the amount over 7,825
$31,850 -- $77,100 -- $4,386.25 plus 25% of the amount over 31,850
$77,100 -- $160,850 -- $15,698.75 plus 28% of the amount over 77,100
$160,850 -- $349,700 -- $39,148.75 plus 33% of the amount over 160,850
$349,700 -- no limit -- $101,469.25 plus 35% of the amount over 349,700

Well it sure looks to me like the rich start at about $350 grand and get taxed at a MUCH higher rate than ANYONE else. Think I'm playing with the numbers? Have a look on the IRS website:

No. Obama and his Democrat cronies are all wrong. They are all liars. Business as usual: partisan politics. Keep your imaginary change, I'll stick with McCain. Happy birthday, Mac.

I guess noboday tells the whole truth in politics, and while I don't hate Mccain like I did Bush, I can't relate to a guy with seven houses, and he certainly can't relate to a majority of Americans, financially. I'm not saying Obama will save America from its economic woes, but you just have to look around. I'd invite Mccain to take the NYC subway all the way from the Bronx to Brooklyn, sit the whole way through, and look out the window and tell me things are just swell. I invite him to look at the streets of any major city to see just how well his fellow veterans have been taken care of. I invite hime to watch candid footage of how well his party took care of New Orleans after Katrina (and you know he took full advantage of the recent weather there as a fince chance for a photo op--like the guy gives a shit about those folks. I can't relate to a filthy rich, old geezer who chose a loudmouth extremist Christian creationist ditz with the experience of a gnat as vice prez. If he croaks and she's Prez, we are surely screwed. Obama actually spent a good time of his life helping the poor--the guy was literally in the thick. Granted Mccain served our country, and despite being a prisoner of war, his service has been under scrutiny. His views are too in step with the silver spoon sucking overgrown frat dork we had in office for the past decade (though he tries to make like some kind of maverick and deny this) and therefore my vote will gladly go with Obama.

Thanks for your point of view Steve!

I got a long email from another friend about this post, as well. I wish she posted her thoughts like you did. I'm happy to post anyone's thoughts.

No problem Bob, though I should apologize about being such a potty mouth here. :/

Potty mouth? Don't worry about it. This blog is rated NC-17 afterall. LOL. Opinions are welcome. Even ones that don't agree with me. Hell, what would this world be without a little debate?
