Transit Delays Redux

Every week you can be guaranteed the following with regard to the #7 train in New York City:
  • The escalator will be down at least once a week.
  • Express service will be down at least once a week.
Today the MTA gave the riders a one-two punch. The escalator headed into the bowels of Flushing to the #7 was down for the second day in a row. Then there was no express train service into the city. After the train left the station they announced that no trains will go beyond Queensborough Plaza. At 74th Street they discharge all riders from the train saying that the train was headed back to Main Street.
The 74th Street Station is one of the most vile stations to have to use. It's clean, but poorly designed. After a 5 - 10 minute walk to get to the E train riders were able to get on. This is supposed to be an express train, but it was a slow and mind numbing trek to Lexington Avenue. Once there I hopped the #6 train headed uptown. Within moments I was at 77th street, my stop. Guess what? The DOORS wouldn't open. It took over two hours to go from door to door today. I got to work about 10-15 minutes late.
