One thing I've noticed when traveling in the Caribbean, each island has it's own home grown local beer. In Barbados the local beer was called Banks. The tag line for this beer is Banks: EXACTLY! Exactly what though? It's a regular beer, not dark or red. Not strong or mild. It has good color, and flavor. It has two distinct positive attributes:
- Cheaper than soda.
- 4.7% alcohol.
Needless to say, I drank no soda but had several six packs! But the bottom line is, I won't be going out of my way looking for some here in New York. This stuff isn't too different from any island beer. It wouldn't be worth it to pay for the extra tariffs and freight that would be required to find it up here. I'll stick with Killian's and Samuel Adams here in New York. But if I'm back in Barbados I wouldn't mind having a couple extra bottles on hand!

Banks' biggest asset is that it is actually not special. You can drink it all day and all night and not get tired of it...but you never fall in love with it and probably not miss it when you are gone.
