For some reason I've been having problems with the software that protects my computer from invaders. Years ago I became acquainted with AVG Antivirus by Grisoft. It does a great job without being a great big resource pig like Norton's or McAffee. I've used AVG free version for years and I've been completely satisfied with the results. The only problem is that it's only an antivirus, not an anti-malware / spyware.
I beefed up my protection with some software cleverly named "Super Anti Spyware." It's great because it catches the things AVG can't.
Somehow after getting along for months the decided to battle it out for system supremacy over the last week. I have no idea what spurred this on, but the two dragged my machine down to a crawl and made the machine nearly unusable at times.
Just as abruptly as it all started, it all stopped. They are friends again and my old machine is back to top form. Having the two on the outs was a drag though. If you see your machine having similar symptoms, keep my plight in mind.
