On DVD: Stuck (2007)

My wife saw this movie with a bunch of her friends at a wine and cheese party. After that she wouldn't leave me alone unless I saw it. She and her friend tried to impress upon me how demented and twisted it was. Oh, and don't forget the gore!

So I did. The movie is under 90 minutes. In a nutshell, this movie is about two people. One having a bad day, by being unemployed and thrown out of his home. The other with a potentially good day with a possible job promotion. Things are thrown in a loop when their worlds literally collide. Brandi Boski, played by Mena Suvari, celebrates her good fortune and likely job promotion with a night of booze and drugs. While driving home, while severely impaired, she literally runs into a down-on-his-luck Thomas Bardo (Stephen Rea). His leg is broken as he's thrown over the hood and part way through the windshield. He's stuck in the windshield, hence the name of the movie.

The rest of the movie isn't about the woman doing the right thing, but just theopposite. She wants to kill the injured man caught in her windshield of the car she locked into her garage.

Essentially this is a 90 minute episode of The Twilight Zone, except cruder and you really don't care what happens. Character development is poor. The characters, especially the poor sad-sack Bardo, aren't likeable. Even with an extended sex scene starring a very nude Mena Suvari wasn't good; she's not hot. I would just call this a mediocre movie at best. If you were thinking about seeing it, rent something else. Pass on this mess.
