In Print: From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming (1957)

As you might guess, this is a James Bond book about a huge Soviet conspiracy taking advantage of his greatest weakness: BEAUTIFUL WOMEN!

The Soviets have grown tired of a certain British agent mucking up their plans. So SMERSH trains a very beautiful woman to seduce Bond and to make him fall in love with her.

About one third of the book is dedicated to the Soviets setting up the plan. About another third is about the plan going into effect. Finally the last third is where all hell breaks loose.

This is the Soviet plan: they want to set Bond up so he dies in disgrace. They wanted to kill him and the girl and make it look like a murder / suicide -- a crime of passion with a member of the enemy! As you can well imagine, it doesn't work out and Bond barely squeaks out of this tale alive. The ending is a really thrilling cliff-hanger.

Definitely a wild ride for, even for a 007 book!
