In Print: Goldfinger by Ian Fleming (1959)

Bond week continues! The next book up is the next one in succession, Goldfinger. This book is about the patience of the Soviet spy machine during the Cold War Era.

Auric Goldfinger is a dealer of Gold and well known for it throughout Britain. As it turns out, he's an agent of SMERSH. His job is to use England's gold against it. He buys it up and sells it in other markets to build up wealth. When he grew bored of the whole thing he decides to go for bigger game in the United States, Fort Knox. Of course Bond is able to thwart the plan with teh assistance of his American friend, Felix Leiter.

The amount of detail in this conspiracy is quite amazing. It makes it more electrifying to read. It's a clever tale, fun and fast pasced.
