Jamaica, 2009

I was away for a week in Jamaica, and got back about a week ago. This was my first vacation after tax season so it was important therapy for me. This was our third trip to Jamaica and out second to the resort, The Trelawny Starfish. Is it often goes in these vacation hotspots, most of the big resorts are owned by one corporation. The Starfish is a Lido Resort like Breezes and several other big names on the island.

This was the plan: do nothing but rest for a week. We've been to Jamaica before and even to this very resort so there's not a whole lot left to do. So we spent a lot of time doing nothing. It's probably more relaxing that you might think. For a week we did the following: wake up, have breakfast, lounge about in a chaise, dinner, sleep. Mixed in there were drinks, snacks, swimming, pics, and maybe some television.

I think the biggest let down on this trip was also perfection. We were told that there was free wi-fi in the common areas of the resort, the lobby, dining areas and by the pools. So the wife and I both brought our netbooks. We got there only to be told that there was nothing free in this place. So we just locked the machines up and spent that much more time relaxing.

So was this an exciting trip? No. Did we do amazing exotic things? No. We just had a restful week away from work and home.
The Trelawny Starfish is very nice. It will become Breezes 3 in November, as I am told. It's a nice place for a nice no-pressure vacation. We flew Air Jamaica both ways even with teh same captain. The way there was gast and smooth, but the way back was burdened with quite a bit of turbulence. It didn't bother me, but the wife (who hates to fly) wasn't too happy about getting tossed to and fro. Regardless, we landed on time. It's nearly two weeks since we got back and the good done on that trip has almost been erased from me. I'm already tired and worn out again. Oh well, that's why we look forward to vacations, otherwise why take time away from work?
