Trivia
Why was one of the United States’s four-man bobsled teams disqualified at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway?
  • The runners on the team’s bobsled were too warm—they exceeded the allowable temperature by 0.9 degrees Celsius. It was the first such disqualification in Olympic history. Under the rules, a bobsled’s runners cannot be more than 4 degrees Celsius above the temperature of a test runner left exposed to the air for at least an hour.
