Alice In Chains launch "Your Decision" comic contest

ALICE IN CHAINS has teamed with Popcult (in association with Devil’s Due Comics) for a promotion allowing fans to add their chapters to the controversial storyline depicted in the video for current single “Your Decision”.

The “Your Decision” comic picks up where the video leaves off, fans will determine how the story ends. A tumblelog page featuring a master storyboard with comic’s opening chapter will be laid out at AliceInChains.com/YourDecision.

Fans can then post their suggestions for what they think should be the next chapter (in 150 words or less). Once approved, all new chapter posts will be viewable to the public. They can be read, commented on and voted for / ‘liked’ by other users. At each chapter stage, the submission with the most ‘likes’ will be the winner. Each winning submission will be elevated to the master storyboard and guide the path the story takes next. Winning entrants will see their chapter illustrated by Pop Cult / Devil’s Due Comics, and immortalized into the “Make Your Decision” comic book.

Fans are encouraged to share their submissions via Facebook and Twitter to pull extra votes. There will be five new chapters in total, so five opportunities to win. Sign up to Tumblr to vote.

The grand prize winner will be chosen by the band, based on the best entry of all five chapters. This prize will comprise of a flyaway for two to see Alice In Chains perform at a sold-out Terminal 5 show in New York City on March 9th, with opportunity to meet the band. Runners up will receive their own limited edition “Your Decision” illustrated lithographs, signed by the band.

The finalized “Your Decision” comic (comprised of all six successive parts) will be offered as a free PDF download to everyone. Sign up at AliceInChains.com/YourDecision at any point throughout the contest to receive. The comic ill be sent on story’s completion, February 26 2010.

Contest launches at 12:30pm PST today (Friday, February 12) and will close Friday, February 26.

Last week Alice In Chains launched a sold-out tour of North American supporting new album BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE (Virgin/EMI). Fans and critics alike have lauded the record: Revolver magazine named it “Album of the Year” and readers of Guitar World magazine voted BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE “Rock Album of the Year.” The Readers Poll also saw Jerry Cantrell voted “Best Rock Guitarist” and lead single “Check My Brain” voted “Best Riff.”

New single “Your Decision” recently cracked the Billboard charts, making it the 12th top 10 Mainstream Rock hit of Alice In Chains’ career. The track’s debauchery-filled video, inspired in part by the film Eyes Wide Shut, was shot in a Malibu, CA mansion and directed by Stephen Schuster.
