Review Tuesday: RBC on CD

A couple of weeks ago I decreed that this band had the greatest name I've heard in a while: The Roast Beef Curtains, so when I got the CD I had to see if they live up to the awesomeness of their name!

Their EP consists of five very authentic sounding Reggae songs. I've been to the Carribean enough times to know what it should sound like, as opposed to what Reggae sounds like here for popular audiences in the US. I was expecting the RBC to sound more ska like Sublime of any number of other bands that fuse the Reggae flavor with rock to widen the potential audience. No, these guys keep it real. The songs are well structured, well balanced and perfectly produced. The sound is altogether perfect.

I listened to the album no less than 8 times before realizing that I couldn't find anything to fault them about. The record is just that good, which is probably why they got in on the Bonaroo Festival next month.

Here's a clip of RBC performing on the local morning news show, in which they show that they are Howard Stern fans by referencing that they were influenced by Elegant Eliot Offen:

If you have a chance, check out the CD! In the meantime, you can connect with RBC here:

The first time I saw them play live, they did a song with elegant elliot offen sound effects - I knew I had a new favorite band! :-P
