In Print: World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

This book came highly recommended from several friends. Cashing in on the popularity of the undead, this book is a history book of the events of the world war against zombies. Clearly, it's an alternate history, if you didn't figure that much out!

The book is a fictitious compilation of interviews of survivors of the great war of the living versus the undead in a not too distant future. While no blame is assigned to anyone or government for the start of the zombie pandemic, the first cases were reported from deep within the borders of mainland China. Due to the secretive nature of the government, no warnings were issued, only military action was taken to try to keep the masses of the living dead at bay. Their campaign was unsuccessful and the spread is tracked from there all over the world.

The book is over 300 chilling pages which concentrate on various events and situations that occur during the war. There are aspects and situations that you would never consider if there ever was a zombie pandemic. For instance, can water hold them back? How does the cold affect zombies? Can animals eat zombie flesh? Do zombies only eat human flesh? Can the zombie virus only be transmitted through a bite? How does time effect the zombie body? Etc, etc. Max Brooks covers all these areas and many many more over the course of this tome.

Truly imaginative reading that's provocative as well as entertaining. A real page turner. A must-read book for people who love the undead! Check it out!
