Review Tuesday - On CD: The Last Hundred Yards by Mike Petrone

Recently the album The Last Hundred Yards by Mike Petrone came across my desk. I took particular interest in this artist because he served two tours in Iraq and was awarded the Purple Heart, so this is a guy who cares about his country, is brave, and is already a hero.

The music is hip-hop. While it's no secret that I'm a fan of rock music I can appreciate anything that's good. So with that I can easily say I "appreciated" the album The Last Hundred Yards. For an independent musician, he's not lacking in originality, and quality. This album has better spit and polish than records that get air play on the local top 40 stations. What I especially liked was the general vibe. While Petrone is one of the few guys in the genre who really earned a tough-guy image, he doesn't play off of it. He tells it like it is. he has fun with himself. It's a different kind of hip-hop album, and the kind I would be pleased to put on my iPod along with my fav bands like Iron Maiden, Yes, and Primus.

I'd call this a GREAT album and you should really consider giving it a listen!
