Turtle Thursday: In the news 06/17/2010

snapping turtle Pictures, Images and Photos

This week we had a horrific news item about a couple of kids who captured a twelve pound snapping turtle and set it on fire. The poor thing actually SURVIVED the burns so they stabbed it with a steel rod and killed it. Senseless waste of life. I'm talking about the two douchbags.

Future serial killers of America. Douchbags is putting it mildly. I really love this photo though - just might make good drawing material.

I'm not a vegetarian or anything, but it outrages me to see senseless cruelty to animals and wasting of innocent lives.

While snappers are not very friendly animals, they are still an ancient breed that dates back to the days of dinosaurs and is entitled to live every bit as much as we are. The fact that two soul-less dudes were able to torture and kill this living fossil shows that they have no conscience and will likely never be able to be a productive part of society. For them, I don't think that a death penalty would be too harsh as it will save lives and grief of others later on.

I found that pic on photobucket. Amazing animal! You've done beautiful work on snappers before. If you choose to make this pic a subject, I know it'll turn out great!

Be well Steve!
