In print: Let Me In by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Let me In [Let the Right One In] [Hardcover]
I finally finished reading the book that the movie LET ME IN was based on, Let The Right One In (or Let Me in) by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

If you saw LET ME IN, it's really the same story, except much greater detail, and many many extras.

I went into this hoping to get more insight into the characters of the movie and, as you would expect, it was in there. But what I didn't expect were so many layers of side stories and twists in the story.

I don't want to throw out any spoilers because I really feel this book is well worth reading, so get to it. But I WILL offer some ticklers. If you were curious about the vampire's history, it's in there! Also, it seems that Eli's "father" did NOT meet the vampire very long ago. His history is included as well. The main character, Oskar, is not nearly so all alone in the book, but just as blind to the bullying.

What I found most interesting was what felt like an underlying social commentary. While a vampire was roaming in their midsts, society has hatched a variety of it's own vile monsters in the shapes of bullies, ignorance, alcoholics, neglect, indifference, child molesters, etc. By the end of the book you are left wondering who was truly the worst offender.

A really fun book to read. Get to it! You can find it on AMAZON!
