Review Tuesday: In the cinema - HALL PASS

Hall PassThe first time I saw the trailer for HALL PASS I decided that I had no interest in seeing this movie. As a favor to Mrs. Bax0jayz I went anyway.

Rick and Fred (Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis) are two husbands who are obsessed women. In an effort to allow their husbands to burn off energy, the wives give them each a week off from marriage - a HALL PASS. No rules. No repercussions. The rest movie is about the misadventures of the husbands as they try and fail with the opposite sex. The reality of the story is that the week off for the husbands was also a chance for the wives to whore out, which is considerably easier. I mean, how hard is it for a half-way decent woman to get laid, anyway?

The movie is a predictable chain of events peppered with gross male humor. The guys are pathetic, of course. The wives are cool as cucumbers, of course. The dudes keep striking out. The girls win without trying. And you have a double dose of male full-frontal nudity, which seems to be essential in every adult comedy. Only one hot chick shows her boobs, but nothing down south. When did it happen that female nudity in flicks became taboo, but cock and balls ISN'T?!?!

It was funny. I laughed, a lot, but still found the entire concept stupid and felt that it should've been called Fantasy Island, or maybe some sci-fi title like Destroyer of Worlds since it was just so out there. A couple of the chicks in the movie were well worth watching like the Australian chick Leigh (Nicky Whelan) and the baby sitter Paige (Alexandra Daddario), but I think I would suggest that you just wait for the DVD instead. It won't be long considering how little it took in last weekend.
