I know we're months into the PR juggernaut known as Born This Way by Lady Gaga, but I really wanted to add my 2 cents to the mix.
First off, I was posting Gaga press releases when this thing came out. I requested a copy of the record to review and never got a response. i had to borrow my secretary's copy in order to form an opinion of it.
Second: You may not know this, but this is her THIRD ALBUM. How did that happen? Hasn't she been around for 14 minutes?
Third: Her brilliant idea of BORN THIS WAY becoming the new gay anthem backfired. You can't TELL someone, here's your new anthem. It has to happen organically. It didn't.
Fourth: Her brilliant plan to stir up controversy by releasing the single JUDAS just before the Christian Holiday of Easter backfired. No one seemed to care. (However, I must say that this track is arguably the best song on the record.)
Fifth: I consider this record, like her others, at best good. It's not great. Some of the songs aren't as well crafted as others. Some aren't up to top 40 standard, just too far out there. additionally, there just aren't that many tracks that knock your socks off.
A Gaga fan will probably love this, but I know some who aren't too pleased. I just listen to Judas over and over.
