The Apocolypse Watch by Robert Ludlum

Nearly two months ago I grabbed a random book from my stack of Robert Ludlum novels and came up with The Apocalypse Watch.

Set in the mid 1990's the world is thrown into near hysteria as Neo-Nazis try to bring the Fourth Reich into control of the world.

That rather simplistic synopsis may sound familiar. And while reading the book I thought, didn't I read this already? Kinda. The Holcroft Covenant, reviewed HERE, is a very similar story, however written some two decades earlier by the same author. The Apocalypse Watch is a much more involved conspiracy and needs every single one fo the 700+ pages that it's comprised of to properly tell the story.

Thoroughly enjoyable, and never predictable, this book has several layers of plot going on at once, but they are all intertwined so it never gets out of hand. All the characters are well developed. The good guys are so good that you find yourself cheering for them. Of course, the devious villains are hateful and easy to loathe. The circuitous path brings you to a climax that you NEVER saw coming. Brilliant writing! It took me quite a while to read it, but it was time well spent. I highly recommend this tome.
You can find The Apocalypse Watch on Amazon.
