I don't like to pre-judge anything, but when I saw a movie starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy I had little faith that it could be any good. Ben has made a career of making movies out of two characters, and Eddie Murphy hasn't made anything watchable in well over a decade. For me, that does NOT bode well.
When a group of working stiffs lose their retirement funds to a Ponzi Scheme, they take matters into their own hands to recover their money.
Basically, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is a man with no conscience. He raped the savings of many people to make appearances and live the lifestyle. After the FBI raids his home, the entire staff of the building he lives in is made aware that Shaw managed their pensions and it's all likely lost. Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) is the building manager trying to do what's right for his employees. He teams up with a neighborhood thief, Slide (Eddie Murphy) and a couple coworkers with try to steal Shaw's hidden stash.
Shockingly, the movie was not only entertaining, but pretty funny! For the first time in years, Eddie Murphy plays a character that will appeal to ADULTS! And it helps that the persona that Stiller plays is NOT Zoolander in this movie, thank goodness.
I'd call this a fun movie to watch, but it'll be gone really soon. It'll be worth your time when it hits TV and DVD.
