Pop-rock singer-songwriter Cory Lamb is on the rise thanks to the release of his debut album, Break the Cycle. Cory worked on the record for two years in Los Angeles with the help of producer Andy Duncan (founding member of OK Go), and has caught the attention of actor Stephen Baldwin who helped produce Cory's first video. Cory is preparing to release his new EP, "Safe In Your Arms," which out TODAY on itunes, but took some time out of his busy schedule to be interviewed by your humble narrator...
Can you give my readers a brief introduction to Cory Lamb, for those who are unfamiliar with you. How did you start?
I had started in Little Rock Arkansas playing in bands around town, but thinking that I would never make it as a singer I decided to try production and was going to intern/ shadow a producer by the name of John Guess. Knowing I was a singer he asked me to sing song for him, to make sure I was not tone deaf. When He heard my voice he said he had a few songs that he would like me to sing. After that I moved to Los Angeles for two years and found who I was an an artist and started writing. That was the beginning on my journey to be a solo artist.
Who were your influences?
The classic rock bands of the 60 70 and 80s like Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith and Journey.
Did you ever take any formal music lessons?
I took voice lessons while living in LA.
Which of your works would you say is your favorite, so far?
I would say the most recent single I wrote Safe in your Arms.
What song is most exciting to play live? Original and/or cover, please!
I would say I most favorite to play live is Break the Cycle.
Any words of wisdom for those with hopes of breaking into music?
Don't let NO stop your dream to be what you were born to be.
Any hobbies outside of music? Sports, etc? Favorite teams?
I love college football and I love Nascar. I know its redneck but what do you expect, I'm from Arkansas!
What do you watch on TV?
I love the history channel, discovery channel, and speed channel.
Where do you live?
I live in little rock Arkansas
What's the best part of touring to you?
Playing shows every night.
