In the beginning of the 1970s the world was in turmoil. So many fears and the politicians were making them worse. From that time, the science fiction genre depicted the future if our fears had been realized. The problem of global overpopulation was addressed in the movie SOYLENT GREEN.
In the year 2022 the world is overpopulated, cities are overcrowded, everyone lives like paupers. What are people to eat?
The flick is a comparison of the haves and have-nots, and a massive conspiracy to keep the masses fed.
I don't think I'll be spoiling anything by saying, the saviour, food product known as Soylent Green is people. People are euthanized then made into little food chips and distributed to the masses. Despite knowing that, this movie really needs to be watched. You have Heston at his cocky best. A plot so paranoid that YOU KNOW it'll end up remade any time now. Plus the message is so dire, and such a reflection of the time that it's almost anthropological to watch. If you haven't seen it, do so.
Since I have AMAZON PRIME I watched it FREE on my KINDLE FIRE. It was pretty impressive despite being a seven inch screen.
