Review Tuesday: The Avengers

Avengers Pictures, Images and Photos

I helped feed the juggernaut this weekend and plunked down my cash to see The Avengers. This movie is the road that several other superhero movies lead to. Don't worry if you didn't see all those other movies (I didn't) because this movie is something completely different.

If you're unfamiliar with the Marvel Universe, The Avengers are a reluctant team of heroes thrown together to defend the planet from an alien invasion led by, Norse God, Loki.

While the movie is nearly 2.5 hours long, it went by pretty quick. The movie moves nicely and keeps your attention. Lots of action. Loads of humor. Plus they did something astounding: made the Hulk watchable, and even likable, on the big screen! The rest of the cast pulled their weight nicely and everything meshed together well. Definitely worth seeing!

NOTE: If you go to see it, be sure to stay to the very very end. They include TWO short clips. One, they should a villain who is the leader of the aliens who invaded. His name is THANOS, by the way. At the very end they show the Avengers team right after the battle sitting down in that restaurant that Stark mentions during the battle.

Nice write-up Bobby. With over billions and billions of comic book fans and Marvel practically breathing down his neck, Joss Whedon was given one job and one job only and that was to not screw this up. Thankfully, he doesn’t even come close to screwing it up and makes this one of the funnest superhero movies in recent time.

Thanks Dan.

I totally agree. Joss came through with fyling colors. Amazing job!

Now let's hope that they movie studios don't crash and burn these franchises in the future.
