Another day, another dinner and show outing. Actually, we had another activity earlier that day, but I'll discuss that at length tomorrow. Today I'm discussing The Heart Attack Grill and Penn & Teller at the Rio.
As the tale was told to me, a man once decided to open up a healthy eatery but business wasn't great. People don't want to go out for food that's good for them, people want food that's BAD for them and they love being told how bad it is. So he went in the opposite direction, a theme restaurant based on food that's terrible for your health, THE HEART ATTACK GRILL.
The Heart Attack Grill is located in "Old Las Vegas." It's a fairly large burger place on the corner of Fremont Street with a gigantic banner spanning all of the windows. You can't miss it. You walk in and are immediately "admitted." They dress you in a nice clean hospital gown by a pretty server dressed as a nurse. The menu is rather limited, basically different stacks of burgers called bypasses, and qualified by the layers of beef. We got two double bypasses, which is two double patty burgers. We also tried their fries that are deep fried in pure lard, and the butterfat shake.
I have to say, the burgers were DELICIOUS. The beef was lean and tasty. The bacon was crispy. The vegies were crisp and fresh, and the buns were hearty. The fries were made of fresh cut potatoes and were perfect. The shake was sinfully delicious. If you are near any of their locations, be sure to drop in. I only wish they'd open in NY.

Next we saw Penn & Teller at the Rio. We saw them there the last time we visited Vegas, but since they are always rotating new and old tricks in and out of the act, you can never see the same exact show twice. Be sure to get to the show early so you can sign the envelope on the stage and maybe even notice that the jazz bassist playing up front is Penn Jillette, himself!
What can I say about Penn & Teller? They are legendary and amazing. They had a full house and that was a WEDNESDAY NIGHT. Their tricks are amazing, and even when they show you the trick, they baffle you anyway. Brilliant showmen! Be sure to check out the show when you visit Sin City!
