Review Tuesday: SKYFALL

For the 50th Anniversary of the Bond films, we received SKYFALL.

A rogue agent from the past lashes out at MI6 because of M's actions from years before. It's up to Bond to take this evil genius down before he is responsible for more agents getting killed, especially Mum!

The studio pretty much exhausted ideas for titles from Fleming's work years ago. SKYFALL is a completely new concept but more along the lines of spy work that Fleming used to write, as opposed to some of the other Bond films. You have your usual mix of swashbuckling, manliness, sex, violence, and ingenuity. As usual, the villain, Silva (Javier Bardem) is several steps ahead of MI6. His computer skills place him in a position of power to hunt down M. It turns out she handed over this rogue agent to the Chinese years earlier in exchange for six other agents in custody.

Silva's brutal character and drive for revenge makes him a force to be reckoned with, but also add that he's gay and the whole dynamic changes even further. The uncomfortable feeling as he interrogates and attempts to seduce Bond is possibly one of the most unusual scenes out of a 007 movie. Bond's brilliance as an agent keeps the roller coaster ride fun, and keeps you riveted to the seat!

The movie is nearly two and a half hours long. It moves quickly and keeps your attention. No wonder why it's regained the #1 spot in ticket sales. It's just a great movie. Fun on the big screen, and you'll definitely want it for your Bond collection.

Oh! In case you were wondering, SKYFALL is the name of the Bond family estate!
