Up and coming Los Angeles garage rock band, CANTO, are coming hot onto the scene with a brand new 5-song EP, a follow up to their debut album, HA HA HA. They have just offered up the single off of the Ride Away EP, "Dirty Water" for stream on their Soundcloud. Although, ironically, "Dirty Water" is a mock homage to Boston, this is Canto's interpretation of the 1966 garage band classic by another California rock band, The Standells, who some have called the "Godfathers of Punk." The EP will be available April 9th for free download through the band's official Facebook page.
The band is a family affair consisting of three brothers, Seamus Blackwell (Vocals, Guitar), Aidan Blackwell (Bass), and David Blackwell (Drums) who have been heavily involved in music all their lives. Lead singer, Seamus says "I was surrounded by musicians growing up, because of it, I wanted to play any instrument I could get my hands on." That is apparent right down to the name of the band, which is the Latin word for "to sing," the brothers showcase their love for the classics with influences from rock music of the 1960s and 70s combined with the energy of a mature and operatic alt-rock sound.
Canto's debut album HA HA HA featuring their first single, "Farewell Well Well," is available on iTunes now. Fans can watch the video for the single on the band's official YouTube page.
