Review Tuesday: Kacey Musgraves - Same Trailer Different Park

It's not often that I have the chance to listen to a record before it comes out, so when I was offered Same Trailer Different Park by Kacey Musgraves, I gave it a shot.

This is a country pop record so it should be palatable to about anyone. It's not too country to make you want to kill yourself, and not too pop enough to hate yourself. It's sweet, pleasant and refined.

The tracklist:
1. Silver Lining 3:50
2. My House 2:40
3. Merry Go 'Round 3:26
4. Dandelion 3:02
5. Blowin' Smoke 3:08
6. I Miss You 3:50
7. Step Off 3:02
8. Back On The Map 4:06
9. Keep It To Yourself 3:16
10. Stupid 2:37
11. Follow Your Arrow 3:19
12. It Is What It Is 3:46
I'm pretty sure that track 7, Step Off is used in a commercial, because you have that instant recognition of the vocals and cheerful tune. The rest of it is pretty upbeat and cheerful. Maybe even fun. Kacey's voice is very pretty, and she hits all the right notes. The instrumentation is perfect accompaniment, as each song is more like a track by track basis, not a band slogging it out for album time. At one point I thought, awful lot of banjo on this, but it wasn't too much, it was just right.

The production is clean and smooth. The songs are pretty. If you like Taylor Swift's voice, you should appreciate this record.

It's out TODAY! Find it on Amazon dot com.
