Review Tuesday: KMFDM - KUNST

I've been a fan of KMFDM for decades already. I have gotten every record on the day it came out for most of that time. CONSISTENCY! The band has had a record of great albums and polished production, they kept it going with KUNST.

The cast of characters:
  • Sascha Konietzko
  • Lucia Cifarelli, Jules Hodgson, Andy Selway, Steve White
  • Mark Durante, En Esch, Bill Rieflin, Günter Schulz, Tim Sköld, Raymond Watts
The tracklist:
  1. KUNST
  2. AVE MARIA
  3. QUAKE
  4. HELLO
  5. NEXT BIG THING
  6. PUSSY RIOT
  7. PSEUDOCIDE
  8. ANIMAL OUT
  9. THE MESS YOU MADE
  10. I <3 not="">
First, they continue their tradition of "five character album titles" with title track KUNST. It's their usual homage to themselves as they rattle off titles of previous KMFDM records. Then the delicious voice of Lucia is front and center in Ave Maria. They jumped right into the whole PUSSY RIOT flap that hit news recently with a well-written song on teh subject. The rest of the record is standard synths, tight guitar licks and ultra-heavy beat. A totally rockin' album that feels both familiar yet brand new all at once.

And there you have it. Thoroughly enjoyable! Another winner. Go out and get it!
