Love Dredd.
But the movie that Stallone did over a decade ago was a disaster. I refused to watch it because Dredd took off the helmet. Dredd NEVER takes off the helmet so hell with that.
I waited patiently and was rewarded with the movie DREDD last year.
In a post-apocalyptic world, the US is reduced to a handful of Mega-Cities. To speed up the legal process a policing force of JUDGES enforce the law. One Judge will, on the spot, be Judge, Jury, and if it fits the crime, Executioner. When one of the most feared and by-the-book Judges, Joseph Dredd is sent out to evaluate rookie Cassandra Anderson they end up taking on the Ma-Ma Clan.
Okay, this is the screenplay for the movie, so there aren't too many surprises. It reads easily and as just as fast-paced as the movie. What IS interesting are the scattered details that Garland had in his screenplay that weren't in the movie. For instance, the opening sequence should've been a bit longer and we were supposed to see a very scarred and battered Dredd donning his uniform. Also Ma-Ma was written as a heavy 60+ year old woman. Plus there are other details here and there that may clear some things up for you.
This only seems to be available in KINDLE format and at under $6 strikes me as well worth it. Read it!
