Singer, musician and songwriter Wrabel, who made his recording debut collaborating with Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Afrojack on the larger-than-life global hit single "Ten Feet Tall," has released his debut EP Sideways on Island Records today. To celebrate the EP release, Wrabel will perform an intimate set at The Slipper Room in NYC on June 26th.
The lead single off the new EP, which is the title track "Sideways," premiered with NYLON last week - who referred to the track as "stocked with the soulfulness of a Sia or Sam Smith, and a melodic pop DNA that throws back to icons like Paul Simon, the title track twists heartbreak into something, well, beautiful." Idolator and AV Club also premiered tracks from the EP, "Into the Wild" and "Give it Time," respectively. Idolator compared Wrabel's sound to "Sam Smith's Disclosure collaboration, only slower and more anguished," while AV Club mentioned, "Sam Smith is all the rage in the music world now, what with his new record and everything, but fans itching for more of the Brit’s wavy stylings might find what they’re looking for in another artist: Wrabel."
Wrabel also stars in a new music video for his own version of "Ten Feet Tall," described as a "tender piano ballad" byBillboard.com. Wrabel's new Island Records debut includes collaborations with Greg Kurstin (Tegan & Sara), Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding), Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse) and Drew Pearson (One Republic).
Along with his solo performance at The Slipper Room in NYC on Thursday, Wrabel will join Afrojack on ABC's Good Morning America weekly summer concert series live from Central Park. For more information on Wrabel and Sideways, visit www.wrabelmusic.com.
