slipshod \ SLIP-shod \ , adjective; 
  1. careless, untidy, or slovenly: slipshod work.
  2. down-at-heel; seedy; shabby. 
  3. Archaic . wearing slippers or loose shoes, especially ones worn at the heel. 
Origin: Slipshod is formed with the verb sense of slip "to move, flow, or go smoothly or easily" and shod , an adjective meaning "wearing shoes." Slipshod entered English in the late 1500s.
