adjective:

gaslit ( def 2 ).

Origin: The verb sense of gaslight comes from a 1944 film of the same name in which a husband secretly and repeatedly dims and brightens the gaslights in the house while accusing his wife of imagining the flickering. This movie was based on a play by Patrick Hamilton. The verb entered English in the mid-1900s, though earlier senses had existed in English since the early 1800s.
