Part 1 - Review Tuesday: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story by Alexander Freed

ROGUE ONE
A Star Wars Story
by Alexander Free
A group of rebels races against time to confirm the existence of, and find a vulnerability in, the latest weapon unleashed by the Galactic Empire.
This is the novelization of the movie with the same title. It's a prequel to Episode IV, STAR WARS: A New Hope. It tells us the following:
  1. Who created the Death Star?
  2. How did the rebels obtain the plans for the Death Star?
It's a very clever story that contains very few characters that we have previously known in the Star Wars universe. Over the pages we're introduced to many new characters and creatures. You learn about factions within the Rebel Alliance. You learn SO MUCH about the things you've been wondering about all these years from the beginning of the Star Wars saga.

And now we have a better understading of these words, since this is what Rogue One is all about:

Episode IV: A NEW HOPE

"It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy...."

If you already saw the movie, I'd suggest reading the book. There are always more details to fill in the blanks that movies can never completely fill. If you didn't see the movie I would HIGHLY recommend this book to fans so you can have the extra insight into the characters and be prepared for the visuals on screen. It's well-written and compelling. Very worthwhile reading for any STAR WARS fan.
