mammonism \MAM-uh-niz-uhm\, noun:

• The greedy pursuit of riches.

Mammonism is an odd combination of Aramaic and Greek. The word mammon meant wealth in Aramaic, and the suffix -ism forms a noun from a verb, as in criticism and plagiarism.
