THE X-FILES
Season 11
In season 11 Mulder and Scully continue to trust no one while looking for the truth... and their son.
If you don't want spoilers, then pass over this review. Because I have to start right from the beginning. After the explosive cliffhanger season finale for season ten, season eleven seemed to start off in possibly the lamest way, writing off the entire previous season as something of a dream-sequence. At that moment I howled in anger and dismay. What manner of hack television is that? I would never expect such cheesiness from Chris Carter.
I'm glad I stuck with it and watched the entire ten-episode season. As it appears to be the X-Files formula, the first and last episodes revolved around the underlying conspiracy involving the cigarette smoking man. But they make it even more personal. The evil nemesis of our heroes was actually the father of the child that Scully birthed, thinking Mulder was the father. The rest of the episodes in the style you'd expect from the series: telekinesis, witch-craft, return of one of the Lone-Gunman, monsters, Skinner's past, etc. Most were very good but not without some serious WTF?!?! moments sprinkled in.
All in all, I really liked the season and wonder how much further they plan to go with this. Will they ever foil the cigarette smoking man? Two top members of the Syndicate are now dead, will they shrivel up and disappear finally? Scully, who looks hotter than ever, is magically pregnant. Where will that lead? So there's plenty to work from going forward. I'll keep watching!
