Review Tuesday: STAR WARS - THE LAST JEDI by Jason Fry

STAR WARS
THE LAST JEDI
by Jason Fry
Directly after the events of THE FORCE AWAKENS, the First Order chases the Resistance across the galaxy.
After sitting and thinking about the most recent installment I found myself more and more disappointed. They couldn't come up with anything more exciting than the capital ship chase? And why don't we toss in some obnoxious new characters to really bring it all down! So I sat and waited patiently for the book version to come out. In the past I have already read the novelizations of movies I considered myself invested in, so I had to wait until the middle of last month for this to finally hit my Kindle e-reader.

It seemed my patience was well rewarded. The first couple chapters weren't featured in the movie at all and added some extra feeling and color to the story. Thereafter you'll find dozens of extra scenes that were left out for whatever reasons. Extensive details, explanations and thought-processes are crammed into the book providing far more clarity into the story and everything that was going on.

Unfortunately, it also delved deep into the various characters amplifying how annoying certain characters already were. Thinking about Rose, General Triggered especially.

Then there was this odd socialist undertone that the strong, rich, capitalist majority was taking advantage of the poor and downtrodden. They enjoyed destroying the gambling city to teach those wretched rich capitalists a lesson. It was pathetic.

But we do finally learn those details about Snoke we were promised in this movie. His part was quite good in the book.

In all, it's the same story, just made better with the addition of details that would've probably made the movie make more sense to the viewers. Perhaps would've made the movie more money as well.
