Review Tuesday: YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE [2018]

Amazon.co.uk: Watch You Were Never Really Here | Prime Video

YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE
A fixer stumbles across a deeper conspiracy when hired to locate a missing child.
One night Mrs. Baxojayz selected this movie, YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Based on the novella by the same name, it's a suspenseful and brutal film. It's a wild ride of some hour and a half.

Phoenix plays Joe, the main character. He corrects dire situations, without getting the law involved, in brutal ways. When a politician came to Joe for help, Joe unwittingly uncovered a deeper and more depraved conspiracy.

The movie is cerebral, compelling, suspenseful, and harsh to watch. It's provocative with the layers of government corruption and depravity that can easily be covered up and hidden from public view. I would call it worth watching if you aren't too squeamish.
