Review Tuesday: Billy Summers by Stephen King

Billy Summers
by Stephen King
An assassin has a bad feeling about his final job.
A friend of mine is a huge fan of the works of KING and gave me a copy a little while ago. Since I trust her judgement I got on this book as soon as I could.

Billy Summers is a complex man. He came from a broken home. He watched his sister get murdered by his mother's boyfriend. He had to KILL that guy to survive. He was placed in a foster home until he was old enough to join the Marines and be sent overseas and learned to be a more efficient killing machine... as long as they were bad people. Years later he is offered a ridiculous amount of money for what will be his final job. This aroused his suspicion and made alternate plans to get the job done and disappear, different from what his employer set up for him.

This is really the first couple of pages of the book. The rest is Billy analyzing that entire situation, his life, and  how to write a book. Yeah, King wrote a book about an assassin writing a book. That actually takes up nearly as much of this book as the story of the assassination.

I won't say anymore because the book is fun and clever to read, so read it yourself. It keeps you pulled in and turning pages right up the very end.
