Review Tuesday: The Disappointments Room (2016)

 The Disappointments Room

The Disappointments Room
When a family moves out to the country, the wife seems to observe paranormal activity.
The wife was checking through Amazon to see if there was any interesting horror we haven't seen when she stumbled across this film. Horror plus Kate Beckinsale in the lead? Why not!

When the Barrow family decided that the stress of living in Brooklyn, NY was enough for them, they decided to move out to a charming old estate in the country. Of course, strange things started to happen to Dana (Kate Beckinsale) shortly after moving in. While you are led on this trip with Dana into researching the original owners and, ultimately, some poltergeist activity, you find out that she also happens to suffer from mental illness. So while the movie has some suspense and lovely and / or horrific visuals, you end up wondering whether any of it was real or if the entire episode was a figment of her imagination. With that, you and up wondering if the movie was even worth watching since there was no real pay off by the end. The family packed up and ran back to the city. Nothing resolved. No one ever experienced anything else. Only Dana.

Yep. This entire movie, not just the room, is a disappointment.
