(2009)

A cruel boss has to marry her assistant in order to stay in the country. 

Getting back to my wife's obvious infatuation with Ryan Reynolds. After we had seen the two Hitman's Bodyguard movies, this movie popped up as a suggestion. Predictably Mrs. Bax0jayz suggested that we do so. 

 

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is a horrible boss at a fast paced book publisher. She's so engrossed in her work that she didn't realize she had let her immigration papers lapse and was at risk for getting deported. Her bright idea was to force her loyal and hard working assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her so she can remain in the USA. Hilarity ensues. 

 

The first and biggest problem with this movie is that Sandra Bullock is too nice to pull off the ruthless boss role. She DID look really good doing it. That woman do anything and look striking. The script was a bit cringe and the story was a little predictable, but between the stars and the supporting cast the movie was as vanilla pleasant as you would expect a romantic comedy to be. Women will be happy with the romance and Ryan Reynolds and men will be happy looking at Sandra.
