The Lost Boys
(1987)
A divorced mom and her two sons move in with her father, but the town has a dangerous secret.
It's funny. I really like vampire movies and I like the oldies / classics yet I have never seen THE LOST BOYS. Not even a single minute of it. I can't even explain why. However, when my BFF found out about this travesty, she made sure it was remedied ASAP.
Lucy (Dianne West) is a recently divorced mother of two. Due to her poor financial position the three of them are forced to move to Santa Carla, CA, with her father. What seems like a fun beach and boardwalk town also has the dubious distinction as the murder capital of the country. That, and it's the home for a gang of vampires, which explains the firs thing...
This is one of the infamous COREYS movies, as the stars are Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. In addition one of the stars is a young Keifer Sutherland in one of his earlier roles. This movie is very much a cult film. It's really not very good. The acting is bad. The special effects are mediocre at best. There are a lot of inconsistencies in the story. It's just a lot of cheesiness. But you slap all that together with the Coreys in lead roles and I am sure that plenty of teenage girls went to see this in 1987.
I wonder if this movie suffered from high-expectations on my part. I mean, this thing is LEGENDARY. I was left wondering why? It's kinda fun in its cheesiness, but it was a typical 80s horror with the villains laughing at everything because we all know that evil is funnier than a motherfucker. Okay, I finally saw it. Now everyone can leave me alone. I still don't know what the big deal is...
