Underworld: Evolution - Selene

Selene is THE LEAD, the central character, everything to this movie franchise.

I'm trying to decide how to sum up this character, as the tale of Underworld is all about her. Well, the best way to start is from the beginning. We first meet Selene in Underworld as she ponders her future as a Death Dealer, those are the lycan destroying vampire soldiers. The lycans were believed to be hunted to the brink of extinction.

Believed to be.

In reality they were amassing a grand army to destroy the vampire elders with assistance of the treacherous Kraven. Everything goes wrong when Selene stumbles in the path of the coup de grace of the lycan plan, Lucian wanted to combine the bloodlines and needed the blood of the descendant of Corvinus to bring the plan to fruition.

Selene, somehow, falls in love with Michael, this very descendant and in doing so throws a monkey wrench into the entire plan.

After bites from both Lucian and Selene, Michael becomes the first living vampire / lycan hybrid. What happens next is the two new lovers banding together against all adversity.

In Evolution, Selene's role changes from protecting Michael, to protecting the human race against William Corvinus, the orignal lycan and his brother, Marcus, the surviving vampire elder who intends to free him.

By the end of Evolution Selene is transformed by Alexander Corvinus' blood and she's able to exist in the sunlight. Since Michael and Selene consummated their relationship the big question asked is whether Selene is pregnant or not. If so, that could lead to a part three. Maybe.

By the way, I mentioned in a previous post that people are looking for info on a Selene lesbo kiss. I saw the commercial again and realized she's not kissing a woman, she's kissing Michael. He has long hair, but he's not that fem. C'mon now!

Selene is played by the lovely Kate Beckinsale. In my opinion she looks best in these movies with the very dark hair and pale complection. She's married to Len Wiseman, the man behind these movies. Also she has kids with Michael Sheen, the dude who plays Lucian. Small world! See more about her career on IMDB:
