Rob Zombie was talking for a long time about getting the chance to make a film. So this was his shot. He took (ready for the bad pun?) stab at the horror genre. It really wasn't a shocker if you've ever seen any of his albums. That's what he's always been in tune with.
What you have here is a combination of art, music, and gory slasher horror. Honestly, the "artsy" parts started getting a little annoying to me. Other than that it was a fair horror film that certainly broke no ground.
The concept of a villain named Dr. Satan was childish and bordered on annoying.
The ending was a bit of a surprise only in the fact that usually one of the poor innocent individuals manages to escape with their life. Not in this one. All of the innocent people died. There, now you don't have to bother renting it.
The only good parts of the film, IMO, were those when Rob's girlfriend was running around nekkid. She's a real looker. Keep your eyes open for the liquor store with the funny name. That made me chuckle.

If you like the way it sounds you might want to see the sequel:
The Devil's Rejects
