Review Tuesday: OUTLAND (1981)

Outland (1981) - Movie Review / Film Essay

OUTLAND
(1981)
The new marshal at a mining colony finds himself marked for death when he uncovers a drug-smuggling conspiracy.
I recently had the urge to watch some old sci-fi that I had a scant memory of from my youth. I had a vague recollection of a film with Sean Connery in a space station trying to NOT get killed. That was enough of a description to track down OUTLAND.

William T. O'Niel (Sean Connery) is the new federal marshal stationed at a mining colony. When miners start dying under curious circumstances, he discovers a deep seated drug-smuggling conspiracy. O'Niel is given two options, play along or die.

The movie is a lot of fun. Between the detective work, and character development, the movie does a better job than you'd expect drawing you in. It's worth the stroll down memory lane for a refresher.
