troth \TRAWTH\, noun:
- Faithfulness, fidelity, or loyalty.
- One's word or promise, especially in engaging oneself to marry.
Troth derives from a variation of truth in certain regions of England. Over time it has taken on a distinct meaning in certain phrases.
